Bottero Pool House | Alamo California - The Clients desired a new pool house with a Mediterranean feel. The initial image for the design was a poolside cabana; open with the cloth flaps loosely tied back. During exploration of melding Mediterranean elements with modern materials to produce a soft, yet permanent, façade, the curved standing seam metal roof and powder coated metal screen took shape. The screen developed several characteristics of its own: a latticed and layered transition to filter strong light; at night, a soft glowing portal showcasing the bar beyond; a visual backdrop for parties and late evening swims.
Baigent Beach House | Pacific Grove, California – The original little board and batten cottage sits in the middle of a large lazy garden with stunning oak and cypress trees. The residence is a short walk to Asilomar beach. The design intent was to enlarge and upgrade the cottage and retain as much of the interior board and batten character as possible. An aluminum framing system (the battens) with color resin panels as the boards was explored.
